Are You Currently Taking Pradaxa?
Pradaxa is a prescription drug taken by individuals as a blood thinner (anticoagulant). It is commonly used to reduce the risk of stroke and blood clots for people who have atrial fibrillation (AFib). It has recently been discovered that those who take Pradaxa may be at higher risk for developing dangerous hemorrhages and serious internal bleeding. Common side effects include brain hemorrhages, internal bleeding, kidney bleeding, gastrointestinal bleeding and even death.
If a patient begins to bleed internally while on a blood thinner, a Vitamin K shot is administered to serve as a blood clotting agent. Recent studies have shown that this shot is ineffective with Pradaxa — which can cause the patient to bleed out and suffer extreme injuries or even result in death.

Is it True That Pradaxa Can Lead to Heart Attacks?
A recent clinical study, published in the January 9, 2012 edition of the Archives of Internal Medicine, suggests that patients taking Pradaxa (as opposed to the blood thinner warfarin) are 33 percent more likely to have a heart attack or show symptoms of severe heart disease. While more extensive study is warranted, the medical journal also noted that the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) has issued several warnings regarding the drug.
The FDA is currently investigating a large number of reports of serious bleeding linked to Pradaxa users. Japan and Australia have issued safety warnings to consumers in their countries and the European Medicines Agency has advised all European doctors to carefully check patients’ kidneys before prescribing Pradaxa.
