Disha Roy

Disha was born in Houston, Texas and has spent most of her life in the Bayou City.  Disha earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas San Antonio where she majored in business with a concentration in small business and entrepreneurship.  During college, Disha was involved in several organizations, and served as Vice President of the Collegiate Entrepreneurship Organization (CEO) Legacy organization from 2008 to 2009.  From when she was a little girl, her dream was always to become a lawyer.  After graduating college, Disha pursued her dream and went on to achieve her law degree at South Texas College of Law.  During law school, Disha participated in many legal clinics, participated in the Summer Advocacy Mock Trial program, and interned for Lone Star Legal Aid, Probate Court No. 3, and an employment law firm.  Disha served as Secretary and President of the South Asian Law Student Association from 2010 to 2012 and was involved in several other law school organizations.  Eager to start practicing in the legal profession, Disha graduated early from law school, earning her juris doctorate in 2012.

Since graduation, Disha has remained an active member of the South Texas College of Law Young Alumni Council.  Disha has over 10 years of civil litigation experience and began her career in employment and tax law.  Finding a profound passion to help the injured, Disha first began working for Abraham Watkins in 2014.  During her time at Abraham Watkins, she was involved in catastrophic injury cases, ranging from chemical plant explosions, trucking accidents, product defects, to business disputes.  Disha eventually left the firm to work on her own law practice, continuing to represent the injured.  She also served as general counsel for companies ranging in revenues up to $500,000,000.00.  In 2018, a settlement of Disha’s was named as one of the top 50 settlements in Texas.  She has always been involved in taking cases to help the injured.  From initial intake to trial, Disha has extensive experience in every phase of a legal case.  After working for her own law practice, she went on to work for two more notable personal injury firms.  Disha is now back with Abraham Watkins as Of Counsel, ready to serve the firm’s clients and zealously fight for their rights, every single day.

Disha is not only devoted to her profession and her clients, she is also an active member of community and charitable causes.  She has involved herself in many organizations that focus on giving back to the community and raising awareness.  Disha is also a certified Indian classical dancer in Kuchipudi, and has classically trained from when she was 4 years old.

Disha speaks fluent English and Bengali, and is versed in Spanish.
