Thanksgiving Morning Brings Massive Pile-Up on Texas Highway

On Thanksgiving morning, several people were injured as a result of a string of accidents that led to a massive pile-up on I-10, just southwest of Beaumont, TX.

As per the Houston Chronicle, at least 140 vehicles collided, including many tractor-trailers and at least one tanker. It has now been confirmed that a Pearland couple was killed in this accident. State Troopers estimated that nearly 100 people were transported to area hospitals. Of the injured, 10 to 12 of them are in serious to critical condition.

According to DPS, the crash began on the eastbound side of I-10, but quickly set off a chain reaction of subsequent accidents. Many of the crashes took place on the westbound side of the highway. I-10’s eastbound lanes were not re-opened until Thursday evening, nearly eight hours later.

With the Christmas and New Year holidays quickly approaching, hopefully this unfortunate incident will serve as a reminder to all on our Texas roadways, slow down and drive safely.
