Were You Injured After Taking Invokana?

Abraham Watkins Is Currently Pursuing Invokana Lawsuits On Behalf Of Victims

Invokana is a popular drug that is used to treat Type II diabetes by lowering blood sugar. It is manufactured by Johnson & Johnson.

Many people are prescribed Invokana to help regulate their blood sugar. But there are several known health risks associated with this drug. For many people, Invokana use can cause more harm than good.

The Problem With Invokana

In May of 2015, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a warning on the dangers of Invokana use.

Invokana is in a class of drugs called sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT2) inhibitors. The FDA found an increased risk of developing ketoacidosis and other conditions among users of Invokana.

Health Risks Associated With Invokana Use

Use of Invokana has been shown to increase an individual’s risk of:

  • Ketoacidosis
  • Heart attack
  • Kidney failure
  • Stroke
  • Bone fractures
  • Urinary tract infection (UTI)
  • Blood infections
  • Kidney infections
  • Other infections

Invokana And Ketoacidosis

Invokana use has been shown to cause high levels of acid in the blood, a condition known as ketoacidosis. Some common symptoms of ketoacidosis include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, breathing problems, fatigue, and excessive or frequent urination.

The negative effects of this drug can come on surprisingly fast.

If you have noticed any signs of ketoacidosis (or any of the symptoms listed above), and you have taken Invokana, you should immediately talk to your doctor and seek treatment. These are potentially life-threatening side effects.

The law firm of Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Agosto, Aziz & Stogner is partnering with The Webster Law Firm to help individuals who have suffered adverse health effects due to Invokana use. Please do not hesitate to contact us to find out more about pursuing an Invokana lawsuit.
