H-E-B RIG MALFUNCTIONS; CATCHES ON FIRE

On January 4, 2024, a crash involving an H-E-B big rig caused a massive fire and multiple lane closures for nearly three hours. The crash occurred on I-10 at Woods Road when the H-E-B truck, which was carrying plastics, somehow malfunctioned for an unknown reason. The malfunction led the driver to lose control, hit the freeway lane dividing wall, and then hit another vehicle. Then, both the truck and the other vehicle burst into flames.

The incident took place at around 5 a.m. Smoke was seen filling the air for most of the morning after the incident. Thankfully, everyone was removed from the scene safely and no injuries were reported. The truck driver is not facing any charges at this time.

In 2022, around 32% of truck accidents in the United States resulted in injury. That same year, Texas experienced 38,621 commercial vehicle crashes. Some of these accidents were due to malfunctioning trucks.
