40,000 Silverado Trucks Recalled Over Fire Risk

General Motors recalled 40,428 Chevrolet Silverado medium-duty trucks after finding a leak in brake fluid that could cause the vehicle to catch fire. The 4500HD, 5500HD, and 6500HD models from years 2019 and 2023 are all at risk. GM stated that the brake pressure sensors in these models can cause a leak that short-circuits the system and increases the chances of the vehicles catching fire.

Concerningly, these potential short circuits can result in fire regardless of whether the car is being driven or sitting in park with the engine turned off. This could be particularly dangerous for cars parked inside a garage or by a gas pump. Consequently, GM advised owners of these models to park outside and away from buildings and other structures until the models are repaired.
