India Seeds Sold Via Amazon, Walmart, and eBay Could Be Deadly

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has recalled seeds marketed by a Florida company called Todorganic because they are from the Yellow Oleander plant. The seeds were marketed as Nuez de la India Seeds in two-ounce packages via Amazon, Walmart, and eBay.

Yellow Oleander, scientifically known as Thevetia Peruviana, is a highly toxic plant that poses serious dangers to those who consume it. Found in tropical and subtropical regions, this beautiful plant with bright yellow flowers can be deceivingly attractive. However, it contains deadly toxins known as cardiac glycosides, which can have severe consequences for human health. The consumption of Yellow Oleander can result in a range of health issues, including nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. However, the real danger lies in its adverse effects on the cardiovascular system. The cardiac glycosides present in Yellow Oleander can disrupt the normal functioning of the heart, leading to irregular heartbeats, heart failure, and even death. The toxicity levels vary across different parts of the plant, with the seeds being the most poisonous.

Although the FDA says no illnesses are currently linked to the recalled product, the FDA is urging people not to use any products marked “botanical food”, India Nuts for Weight Loss”, “Sliming Seeds”, “India Seeds for Weight Loss”, or “Diet Seeds”. Currently, the Maryland department of health says one person was hospitalized after taking “Nut Diet Max Nuez de la India” seeds.
