The United States Consumer Safety Commission issued a recall regarding Infanttech’s Zooby Video Baby Monitors for cars due to a fire hazard. The recall was issued on June 22, 2023, and involves about 17,100 units sold online at infanttech.com and Amazon.com from January 2022 through May 2023 for between $130 and $190.

The recall affected specific units with battery model number HJ554050 batch 2136. The Zooby video baby monitors for cars are housed in a plush animal toy including a giraffe, dog, fox, rabbit, and panda. To find the battery model number, consumers must unscrew the battery door with a small screwdriver from the bottom of the plush camera.

Consumers are directed to immediately remove the battery from the plush camera and may use the Zooby plush camera and monitor while plugged in. Consumers may also contact Infanttech for a free replacement battery.

The affected units may catch fire. As of now, no injuries have been reported, but Infanttech received three different reports regarding their units catching fire.
