One Dead, Two Hospitalized After Fatal Crash in Lampasas County, Texas

On a Saturday in late November, 2022, around 3:30 p.m., a 66 year old woman from Denton was driving a 2017 Mercedes Benz that collided with a 2018 Audi that was being driven by a 48 year old man from Austin. The Audi also contained an unidentified passenger. According to a news release from the Texas Department of Public Safety, the two vehicles collided on a stretch of U.S. Highway 281 in Lampasas County, Texas.

Texas Department of Public Safety officials determined that the collision occurred when the 66 year old driver of the Mercedes failed to control her speed, lost traction with the road surface, and crossed the center stripe and entered into the southbound lane, causing a head-on collision with the Audi. The 66 year old driver of the Mercedes was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lampasas Justice of the Peace, while the driver and passenger of the Audi were transported to Scott and White Hospital in Temple with incapacitating injuries.
