Three Die, One Injured in Fatal Early Morning Crash

In July of 2022, three people died as the result of a collision on IH-14 near the Ft. Hood T.J. Mills exit. The collision occurred when a 2017 Toyota Corolla was traveling the wrong way – eastbound in the westbound lane of traffic – and collided head-on with a 2013 Kia Optima that was traveling westbound in that same lane.

The crash happened around 1:56 a.m. and the Toyota caught fire as a result. The three deceased individuals were comprised of the twenty-year-old driver of the Kia Optima, the twenty-two-year-old driver of the Toyota, and a twenty-two-year-old passenger, all of whom were pronounced dead at the scene. The two twenty-year-olds were unrestrained and died immediately; whereas witnesses attempted to remove the twenty-two-year-old Toyota driver from the vehicle before he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. A fourth individual, a twenty-year-old, was transported to the hospital with incapacitating injuries.
