On July 14, 2022, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) issued a recall notice regarding Sakar International, Inc.’s multi-purpose Tony Hawk Silver Metallic Helmets.  The recall comes after the helmets were found to not comply with federal positional stability and retention system requirements set forth by the CPSC.

As a result, the helmets can fail to protect the wearer in the event of a crash, posing a risk of head injury.  The recall affects these helmets sold nationwide by Walmart and online at Walmart.com from March 2022 through June 2022.  The New Jersey-based manufacturer has announced that the recalled helmets have a white warning label that includes “Item No. AGE2515STH-SIL” in the top right corner.

Some of these Tony Hawk Silver Metallic multi-purpose helmets were provided to consumers as a replacement for the Sakar’s Dimension Bluetooth Speaker Helmets after they were recalled in March 2022 over similar safety standard concerns.  Consumers are being asked to immediately stop using the helmets and contact Sakar for instructions on receiving a refund.  Walmart is also contacting all known purchasers of the product.
