Head-On Collision Near Elkhart, Texas Leaves Two Dead, One Injured

On the morning of May 25, 2022, two people were killed and one was injured in a two-vehicle collision near Elkhart, Texas. The crash happened on US Highway 287, just north of Elkhart, which is in Anderson County.

According to the preliminary report, the wreck happened when a Houston man, traveling northbound on US Highway 287, veered into the oncoming southbound lane of traffic and struck another vehicle head-on. The driver of the second vehicle was immediately taken to the emergency room with injuries as a result of the wreck but is believed to be in stable condition. The driver of the first vehicle (the vehicle that is believed to have veered into the southbound lane, causing the head-on collision), and his passenger, were declared dead at the scene as a result of the wreck.
