Texas Ranks in Top 5 States with “Most Drunk Driving”

While we often pride ourselves on everything being bigger in Texas, being ranked in the top five of states where there’s the “most drunk driving” is not a trophy to put up in the display case.

According to a study published by Zutopi (https://bit.ly/3xdFqlz), Texas falls right behind both North and South Dakota, Wyoming, and Montana as the state with the most drunk driving. The study notes an increase in DUI deaths since the year 2020 and hypothesizes that “Part of the reason for the increased drunk driving during this period could be because of the increased loneliness that came with COVID 19 and the shutdowns, leading to increased consumption in the home.” Drunk driving is never justifiable, and an overwhelming majority of alcohol-related road fatalities are solely a result of drunk driving and would not have occurred otherwise.
