Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Agosto, Aziz & Stogner partner Brant Stogner and attorney Soroush Montazari filed a lawsuit on behalf of Dilma Dos Santos on February 7, 2022. Ms. Dos Santos was a passenger in a vehicle that was struck by a drunk driver that was driving the wrong way on Spur 527 in Houston. Ms. Dos Santos was hospitalized for 10 days and underwent multiple surgeries.
The defendant Jason Cornelius Black was driving a Ford-150 headed southbound in the northbound lanes of the Southwest Freeway. Mr. Black was operating his truck while intoxicated, driving the wrong way on the Southwest Freeway exit ramp; and caused a major head-on collision. Mr. Black struck the vehicle that Ms. Dos Santos was a passenger in causing severe and disabling injuries to Ms. Dos Santos.
The passenger of Mr. Black’s vehicle, Diandra Bellamy, was killed because of this crash. Parents of Diandra Bellamy have now retained Abraham Watkins and have filed a wrongful death and survival lawsuit against CRU Lounge, 2.O Bar & Grill, Gavanna Nightclub (Club Z), Jason Black, Luxo Exotics, Rashad James, and Kamp Houston.
Pursuant to the lawsuit, the bar defendants overserved both Defendant Jason Black and Rashad James. Defendant Black has been charged with Intoxication Manslaughter by Harris County District Attorney’s office. Rashad James, the driver of Lamborghini, who was on probation for his first DWI, at the time of this crash was arrested and charged with a second DWI. Based on the Harris County District Clerk’s records, Rashad James, the owner of Luxo Exotics, did not have a valid Texas Drivers’ license and was not supposed to be driving a vehicle without an interlock system.
“This is yet another example of people being killed and catastrophically injured in a completely preventable collision.
