STOVE RANGES RECALLED DUE TO TIP-OVER HAZARD

The Consumer Product Safety Commission recently issued a recall notice on free-standing and slide-in ranges due to tip-over hazards. The recall was issued on December 8, 2021, and affected about 132,000 units, in addition to about 12,960 units in Canada.

The ranges involved in the recall were of several brand names, including GE, GE Profile, Café, Haier, Hotpoint, Crosley, and Conservator. These ranged from 30-inch, 24-inch, and 20-inch free-standing ranges to slide0in electronic and gas ranges. The brand names, model numbers, and serial numbers were printed on a label visible to each unit.

Consumers are advised to contact GE Appliances to determine if their unit is in need of a recall. GE Appliances is willing to set up a free in-home service call to inspect the recalled range’s anti-tip bracket to ensure it is securely installed on the floor or wall. Consumers should not be placing any objects on the open oven door until the range’s anti-tip bracket has been inspected and repaired, if necessary.

It is important to note that retailers are not prepared, and may not, take any of the recalled units back. Known consumers will be contacted by GE Appliances directly.

The units were primarily sold at Lowe’s, Home Depot, Best Buy, and other home improvement and home appliance stores nationwide and online from May 2021 through July 2021 for between $580 and $4,600, depending on the model.
