Don’t Drink and Drive

Houston attorneys Mo Aziz and Karl Long of Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Agosto, Aziz & Stogner have filed suit on behalf of the mother of a man killed by a drunk driver in Harris County, Texas.

Alleging violations of the Dram Shop Act, among other things, the suit names The Farm Drinkery as a named defendant after a bar patron became intoxicated and got behind the wheel of his vehicle. In consequence, the decedent in this suit was struck and killed by the bar patron.

About every 20 minutes in Texas, someone is hurt or killed in a crash involving alcohol. In 2018, Harris County alone ranked first in DUI related fatalities, with 121 people losing their lives a result of poor decision making.

In addition to being subject to a civil suit, the criminal penalties for driving under the influence are severe. First-time offenders face up to 180 days in jail, a fine of $2,000 or less, and loss of driving privileges for up to a year.

It is essential to know your limit and always drink responsibly.
