One Dead, Two Injured When Trench Collapses at Construction Site

On December 3, 2019, three men were working with a backhoe on a construction site in Gregory, Texas, when a trench collapsed at the site. The collapse buried one of the men completely and partially buried a second man. When a third man jumped in to save the others, he was partially buried in the process.

First responders were able to free all three men from the collapsed trench, but the man who was buried completely had suffered a heart attack and was transported to the hospital. Resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead. OSHA has announced an open and ongoing investigation into the incident.
