Workers Suffer Second- and Third- Degree Burns After Santa Fe, Texas Gas Line Explosion

On June 6, 2019, a natural gas line exploded in Santa Fe, Texas. The explosion, which occurred in the middle of a densely populated residential area, sent a wall of fire several feet high into the air.

The explosion happened while the natural gas line was being worked on by workers that had been hired by CenterPoint Energy. As many as eight of those workers had to get emergency medical treatment due to the explosion. One of the workers had to be life flighted to the hospital, and as many as seven others were taken by ambulance. Police stated that many of them suffered second- and third-degree burns.

After the explosion occurred, the line remained on fire as Santa Fe Police and CenterPoint Energy workers were at the scene trying to regain control of it.
