Nineteen out of the top fifty most dangerous intersections in Texas are in Houston. With Houston being the fourth largest city in the U.S. and largely being a commuter city, it should not come as a surprise that Houston has so many dangerous intersections. This information was made publically available from the Texas Department of Transportation crash statistics derived from 2012 to 2015.

Out of the top ten most dangerous intersections, seven of them are in Houston. The intersection at Bissonnet Street and Beltway 8 has the infamous title of the most dangerous intersection in Houston. The gap between the most dangerous intersection and the next most dangerous is huge. Bissonnet Street and Beltway 8 has a danger score of 1,124 and the second most dangerous intersection, Hardy Road and Beltway 8, has a score of 772. The danger scores were calculated from the number of crashes, injuries, and fatalities at each intersection. The third most dangerous intersection is Beltway 8 and Westheimer with a score of 752.

Not only does Houston have some of the most dangerous intersections, but it also has four of the top five most lethal intersections. Bammel N Houston Road and Beltway 8 had the most intersection deaths out of Texas. The next intersection with the most deaths was Antoine Drive and Beltway 8. Out of the top ten most deadly intersections, Houston has seven of them. The most common area for accidents is feeder lanes running alongside toll roads.
