HNBA Now Accepting Applications for Legal Education Action Program

The Hispanic National Bar Association’s Legal Education Fund (HNBA-LEF) is now accepting applications for its high school pipeline program the Legal Education Action Program (LEAP). This year LEAP is being held in Houston, Texas on June 21-28th. LEAP was started in 2013 in order to provide Hispanic students with a legal education-immersion program that allows students to learn about the legal profession from different perspectives. The goal of LEAP is to increase the number of Hispanics entering the legal field.

A full agenda is planned for the students as they will visit with judges, lawyers, law students, and other legal professional throughout the week. The week long program ends with the student participants competing in a mock trial competition. Firm partner and HNBA-LEF President, Benny Agosto, Jr., stated, “The students participate in a life shaping experience. Former students have contacted us to say again how LEAP changed their lives and focus on advancing their education.” This program is underwritten by several corporations, private donors, law firms, and law schools. Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Agosto, Aziz & Stogner is proud to serve as a sponsor of this great program that provides young Hispanic students with a rare opportunity to learn about the legal profession. LEAP is provided at no cost to the student through scholarships to the participants. To apply to LEAP please visit www.hnbafund.org.
