Car, truck collide; 3 injured

All drivers need to be careful while driving, and this is especially true when entering intersections. Trying to beat a yellow light or running a red light can lead to a car accident and injuries to the parties involved. A recent car accident at an intersection has left several people injured and investigators working to find out how the incident occurred.

The accident happened on Oct. 8. A car was driving westbound on FM1960. When the car attempted to make a left turn on to First Street, it was hit in the side by a pickup truck.

A female passenger in the backseat of the car was injured and life-flighted to a local hospital. Two other female passengers in the car were also transported by ambulance to a local hospital. The backseat passenger is in critical condition, while the other two passengers are listed in serious but stable condition. The male driver of the pickup truck was not injured.

Authorities are attempting to determine which of the two vehicles ran the red light and caused the accident. In accidents such as this one, the accident is reconstructed so investigators can determine what happened at the scene. All cars involved will be thoroughly inspected and everyone involved will be interviewed. If there were any witnesses to the accident investigators will speak to them as well.

Once the investigation is concluded, authorities will know who was at fault for the accident. This is important to the parties involved because whomever is at fault could possibly be held financially responsible for damages such as pain and suffering, medical expenses and lost wages.
