Settlement Reached in 2009 Helicopter Crash

Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. reached a settlement with the widow of co-pilot Vyarl Martin last week for a confidential amount. The helicopter crash occurred near Morgan City, Louisiana in 2009 and killed eight people, including the pilot and co-pilot, and catastrophically injured the lone survivor.

Trial in federal court in New Orleans was scheduled to begin on November 7th for the relatives’ claims against Sikorsky, but will not be necessary, as the remaining claims against Sikorsky in this lawsuit have been resolved; however, other claims against Sikorsky are pending in Alabama and Texas as a result of this crash.
