As a result of the Toyota recall, Consumer Reports in their April magazine suspended their recommendation of the recalled models until Toyota resolves the problem. Consumer Reports recommends that in the event of sudden acceleration you should brake firmly, but do not pump the pedal. Next, shift the transmission into neutral, steer to a safe location, stop, turn off the engine, and shift into park. If you are considering buying a used car from the recall list, make sure the fix has been performed.
