In an eerie turn of events for areas residents, exactly one year after the death of an entire family on Texas 105, a three-vehicle crash left nine people injured Sunday. The crash occurred at Penny Lane between Conroe and Cleveland on the bridge spanning Montgomery County’s Jayhawker Creek around 10:30 p.m. Three young children were among those injured.
Law enforcement officials say the car accident occurred when a Magnolia woman was driving westbound in a 2005 Chevrolet Suburban. The woman crossed into the eastbound lane, striking a Cadillac Escalade occupied by a man, woman, and three children.
Following the impact, the vehicles, which collided on their front left sides, came to a stop. The Cadillac Escalade was stopped in the westbound lane when it was struck once more by a Ford truck with one man and two women inside.
The Suburban’s driver suffered from serious injuries, and was transported to an area in critical condition. One of the two dogs she was transporting died during the crash, and the other dog sustained serious injuries and was taken for emergency veterinary treatment. The occupants of the Escalade were all taken to a local hospital, and a 3-year-old child from that vehicle was flown to a hospital with what police say was a “brain bleed.” The occupants of the Ford pickup were transported by ambulance to the hospital.
The investigation into the car accident is ongoing, and it is unclear whether the at-fault driver is facing any charges. Typically, in cases like this one, injured parties are entitled to seek out compensatory relief for medical expenses, time lost from work, pain and suffering, and other damages.
