NHTSA Upgrades Safety Probe of 2005-2007 Corvettes

As reported by Claims Journal, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has upgraded an investigation of 103,000 older Chevrolet Corvettes following reports of low-beam headlight failures. Model years 2005 through 2007 are under investigation, but NHTSA has also received complaints from drivers of the 2008 Corvette.

The headlight outages occurred after driving for five to thirty minutes because of a fractured circuit wire, according to NHTSA. NHTSA opened its initial investigation in May and will perform a preliminary evaluation to determine if there is a safety defect. After the evaluation, they will either upgrade the investigation or close it. General Motors states that they are cooperating with the investigation.
