The Houston law firm of Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Agosto, Aziz & Stogner is hosting a press conference on Friday, February 14, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. (CST) to discuss the lawsuit.

(Turks & Caicos Islands) Houston attorneys, Mo Aziz of Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Agosto, Aziz & Stogner and Spence Graham and Joe Vinas of Vinas & Graham, PLLC, represent the family of a beloved mother and grandmother who drowned while on a snorkeling trip in the Turks & Caicos Islands. A lawsuit against Sandals Resorts International and Unique Vacations, Inc. has been filed.

VacationThe Hendricks family traveled from their home in Dripping Springs, Texas to stay at a Sandals Resort on Turks & Caicos Island. On July 20, 2019, the son of Diane Hendricks, Jeffery Hendricks, booked a snorkeling tour for him and his family through their hotel, Beaches Resort and Spa in the Turks & Caicos Islands. Jeffery, along with his mother, Diane, wife, and two sons, set out for the tour around 10:30 a.m.; the Hendricks family was taken by the tour operators via boat to a snorkeling location in the Atlantic Ocean.

Soon after the Hendricks family was in the water, Jeffery’s wife, Angela Hendricks, noticed her mother-in-law was struggling in the water and trying to reach for the boat. Angela then helped Diane back onto the boat and removed Diane’s snorkeling mask to help her breathe. Angela yelled to the tour operators for help, but they did nothing to assist Angela or Diane. The tour operators refused to perform CPR on Diane and did not have any life-saving equipment on the tour boat.

After Angela, Jeffery, and the other guests could no longer feel Diane’s pulse, the tour operators finally called 911 and drove the boat back to shore. An ambulance transported Diane to a local hospital. Doctors attempted to revive her twice, but they were unsuccessful.

Following the incident, Sandals Resorts International offered Jeffery and his family a five-day stay at one of their resorts as a gesture of “goodwill” for the death of Diane.

The family of Diane Hendricks and their legal team will be present at the press conference to answer questions. The press conference will be held on Friday, February 14, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. (CST) at the law firm of Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Agosto, Aziz & Stogner, located at 800 Commerce Street, Houston, Texas, 77002.
