Houston, Texas (July 2023) — The law firm of Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Agosto, Aziz & Stogner is proud to announce that Efrain Gonzalez Jr. has joined the firm as an Associate. His current legal practice at Abraham Watkins focuses on catastrophic injury, wrongful death, and complex commercial litigation. He is licensed to practice in Texas and is admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas.
Efrain graduated near the top of his classes at both University of Houston and South Texas College of Law Houston. During law school, Efrain excelled in trial advocacy as well as academics. He was the recipient of a best speaker award in competition, was awarded the highest academic score in Aviation Law and Products Liability, and was repeatedly on the Dean’s Honors List. While attending South Texas, he also worked for the Office of the Attorney General of Texas and the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.
Efrain won his first jury trial as lead counsel during his first year of practice and has successfully litigated hundreds of cases as both lead counsel and co-counsel, ranging from settlements to jury verdicts. Prior to joining Abraham Watkins, Efrain practiced at a Texas based litigation firm, an Am Law 200 national law firm, and his own law firm, giving him experience representing individuals as well as multimillion dollar companies, in transactions and litigation.
Practicing law for the last decade, Efrain’s litigation experience has ranged from financial fraud and contractual disputes to personal injury and wrongful death. While working as a defense attorney, he was part of litigation teams that defended against lawsuits involving millions of dollars in personal injury claims against multimillion dollar corporations. This insight has given Efrain a unique understanding of how defense lawyers evaluate and defend claims which is knowledge he now applies to his cases at Abraham Watkins.
Efrain is active in the community as a member of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity and Child Advocates.
