(Houston, TX) Houston attorneys, Mo Aziz, Karl Long and Angelina Wike of Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Agosto, Aziz & Stogner and Omar Khawaja and Charlie Gustin of The Law Offices of Omar Khawaja, PLLC, have filed a lawsuit against Amazon Logistics, Inc., J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. and Cory Munson on behalf of Abdullah Osama Baidas who sustained catastrophic injuries after falling over an overpass at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Friday, April 10, 2020.

The incident occurred when Baidas and others were stopped on Interstate 45 North Freeway near Rankin Road in Houston when an Amazon delivery truck, being driven by Cody Munson, that was owned and operated by Amazon Logistics, Inc. and J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc., slammed into the disabled vehicles and their occupants and caused Baidas to fall off the overpass. Baidas dropped at least 10 to 15 feet from the overpass which caused him to suffer catastrophic injuries that led to the double amputation of his legs, among other severe injuries.

Baidas was taken to the hospital, admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with serious injuries and there his condition worsened. Baidas’ legs were so severely damaged, they both had to be amputated. In addition to the double amputation, Baidas suffered other catastrophic injuries, including multiple fractures of his skull, multiple fractures of his spine, among other serious injuries. Baidas is now in stable condition but suffers excruciating ongoing pain the incident has caused him to endure.

A Temporary Restraining Order has been filed to preserve all vehicles involved in the collision so that a team of investigators can perform the necessary inspections.

Commenting on the lawsuit, attorney Mo Aziz stated, “Despite increased demands placed on the logistics sector, motor carriers must ensure their drivers are not pushed to meet delivery deadlines.”

Attorney Omar Khawaja further commented, “Mr. Baidas was catastrophically injured while heroically coming to the aid of stranded motorists. We look forward to getting him and his loved ones justice for the injuries he sustained due to a careless truck driver.”
