Electronic Onboard Recorder in Semi Trucks

Hours of Service Violations in Truck Accidents

Given the number of truck accidents that happen on roads in Texas and throughout the United States, it is important for investigators to be able to see how many hours a driver has put in and whether those hours of service violate federal or state regulations.

One way truck drivers are monitored on the road these days is through the use of electronic onboard recorders in semi trucks. An electronic onboard recorder (EOBR) is installed in the cab of a semi truck and is used to record the exact running time of the truck.

At Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Agosto, Aziz & Stogner, as soon as we begin work on a truck accident case, we will work to get the information from the EOBR and other pertinent information to determine what happened.

If a trucking safety violation occurred, we will work hard to hold the driver and/or the trucking company accountable. To learn more, call 713-396-3964 (toll free 800-594-4884) or contact us online today.

Securing EOBR Information May Be Key In Your Case

Not all semi trucks have EOBRs installed in them, and while there is pending legislation regarding these recorders, it is not currently mandatory to have them installed. Recorders will be programmed to keep the original data digitally recorded so that in a truck accident, safety officials can easily retrieve the data without concern that it’s been forged or changed.

The EOBR will keep track of all operational and functional processes. It will record the truck loading and unloading time and location. It will also store the time that a truck driver takes off from driving and remains on break.
