Texas Jury Finds Lexus Responsible for Injuries to Children

A Dallas, Texas jury awarded more than $240 million to a family that brought a lawsuit against Toyota for injuries sustained by two children in a rear end car accident. The lawsuit alleged that the front driver seats in the family's 2002 Lexus ES 300 were "unreasonably dangerous and defectively designed." Lawyers for the family argued that the front seats and the passenger restraint systems failed during a collision involving the family.

Former OU Student and Son of Cowboy's Legend Sues Fraternity for Brain Injuries

Blake Novacek, son of former Dallas Cowboys tight end Jay Novacek, is suing Oklahoma University-based fraternity Beta Theta Pi and affiliated organizations for significant injuries he sustained after he was hit by a baseball bat in a hazing ritual. According to the lawsuit, Novacek is seeking monetary relief of more than $150,000 from Beta Theta Pi, Beta Theta Pi Corporation of Oklahoma, the Gamma Phi (OU) Chapter of Beta Theta Pi, as well as Shane Muselmann and Gavin Martindale, two members of the Gamma Phi Chapter who were allegedly involved in the incident.

The Impact and Concerns of Traumatic Brain and Head Injuries

Accidental falls have always been a cause for concern. According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), nearly 20% of falls result in some type of injury. In the United States, accidental falls are the most common cause of nonfatal injuries in people over the age of 65. The woman was on her way on her first-row seat, right behind home plate. With her back turned to the action, the ball was fouled, and hit her on the back of the head. She suffered from a traumatic brain injury, concussion, and continues to suffer from migraines, sleep disorders, vertigo, neck pain, and several other injuries. The woman has brought a case against Major League Baseball, the Pittsburgh Pirates organization, and a municipality organization.

Foul Assumption: Father Will Most Likely Lose Suit Against Atlanta Braves for Injuries to Daughter When She Was Struck by a Foul Ball

On August 30, 2010, Melky Cabrera of the Atlanta Braves sliced a foul ball in to the stands above the visiting team's dugout, and hit a 6-year girl. The girl fractured her skill in 30 places and sustained a traumatic brain injury. The father brought suit against the Atlanta Braves, and just last Wednesday added Major League Baseball (MLB) to the suit. The suit alleges that the Braves and MLB are liable because they were negligent when they failed to extend the protective netting far enough to protect fans sitting adjacent to the field.

Texas Family Files Lawsuit Against the City of San Antonio on Behalf of Woman Injured in Car Wreck

The family of Tomekia Baldwin filed a lawsuit against the City of San Antonio and Mayor Ivy Taylor's driver for injuries she sustained as a result of a car wreck that occurred on April 18, 2015. The plaintiffs allege that Mayor Taylor's driver failed to stop at a red light and hit a convertible in which Baldwin was a passenger. As a result of the wreck, Baldwin suffered a traumatic brain injury. Baldwin has permanent brain damage and critical cognitive insults, which have led to the loss of her bodily functions.

Four Texas Teens Involved In Serious Motor Vehicle Accident

Out during lunch break from their Texas high school, four students' lives were suddenly and tragically changed when the 18-year-old driver of a Lancer collided with a pickup truck at a San Antonio intersection. At least one of the students died in the fatal motor vehicle accident; 17-year-old Gabriella Lerma was airlifted from the crash site but was pronounced dead when she arrived at University Hospital.
