Earlier this month, more than 80 gas fires and explosions occurred in the Boston area, killing one person and injuring more than two dozen. A family that suffered serious injuries and lost their home in those explosions has filed a lawsuit against Columbia Gas.
At least two workers were injured after a fire erupted Monday night at the Chevron Phillips Chemical plant in Port Arthur. Although the exact number of injured has not been released, it is known that at least two persons were taken by helicopter to the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston where they remained in a burn unit as of Tuesday. The extent of their injuries has not been released.
Last Wednesday night, on August 28, an explosion set a 2003 Ford Taurus on fire in Lake Worth, Texas, with five people inside. The occupants, four men and a woman, were on fire when they jumped out of the vehicle, and were treated at the Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas.
