Unfortunately for Texas, 2020 has already proven to be no different with drunk drivers continuing to cause accidents, injuries, and deaths.

March 16, 2020, marked a deadly night in the Houston-area resulting in three fatal hit-and-run crashes. A man pushing a bicycle was hit and killed at West FM 1960 near Humble. Authorities say the driver of a Chevrolet truck was speeding when he hit the victim, dragging him underneath and driving away. A constable patrolling the area chased down the driver, who was taken to jail. According to officials, the suspect showed signs of intoxication. The suspect was charged with DWI with a child passenger and failure to stop and render aid resulting in death.
In Houston on Monday, July 9, a man driving an SUV on Fuqua crossed the median and crashed into a vehicle driven by an eight-months-pregnant woman. The man drove off after the crash. After being rushed to the hospital and undergoing an emergency C-section, her baby tragically died.
In an all-too-frequent scene in Houston, yet another pedestrian was killed by a hit-and-run driver on Tuesday night, this time on Veteran's Memorial in Northwest Houston. This driver may face justice sooner than most, however-the Harris County Sheriff's Office arrested him after he was tracked down and detained by a witness.
