Boeing 737 Grounded by United Airlines Until June

United Airlines has announced it will ground all of its Boeing 737 Max 8 planes until June 2020 after the two recent crashes involving that plane. This comes in the wake of other developments following the tragic crashes, including actions taken by the FAA and Boeing's own halt to production of the troubled aircraft.

FAA to Handle Approval of New Max Jets

Recently, federal regulators appear to be signaling tougher controls on Boeing. It was recently reported that final checks for the Boeing aircraft will be conducted by the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration). Federal regulators will no longer allow Boeing to sign off on routine checks related to the aircraft. The FAA's decision to tighten control over Boeing, comes in the wake of two recent Boeing Max 8 crashes.

Boeing CEO Grilled by Senate Committee

Recently, a hearing was held before the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation committee regarding the failure of Boeing's 737 MAX 8 aircraft. This inquiry comes after the crash of two Boeing 737 Max 8 aircrafts within several months of one another. The first crash occurred near Jakarta, Indonesia when a Lion Airlines flight crashed into the ocean in late 2018. Subsequently, in March of 2019, the same model aircraft operated by Ethiopian Airlines crashed in March of 2019.

Boeing Begins Settling Claims Involving the Crash of Lion Air 737 MAX for at Least $1,200,000 Per Claim

Boeing has begun to settle the claims of families whose loved ones were killed in a Boeing 737 MAX crash which occurred on October 29, 2018, in the Java Sea. The crash occurred shortly after taking off from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta, Indonesia, all 189 of the passengers and crew died.

Facing Mounting Pressure, Boeing Aiming to Settle 737 MAX Jetliner Crash Claims

Amidst growing concerns over air travel, Boeing is reportedly negotiating over 100 settlements with the families of victims of two separate crashes of their 737 MAX jetliners. Both 737s went down under similar circumstances within five months of each other: a Lion Air jet flying out of Jakarta, Indonesia in October 2018, and an Ethiopian Airlines flight in March 2019. There were no survivors of either crash, as nearly 350 people were killed.

Recent Ethiopian Airlines Crash Was the Second Boeing 737 Max Crash Since October

On Thursday, April 4, 2019 Ethiopia's Ministry of Transportation released their preliminary report regarding the crash of flight ET302. Ethiopian Airlines flight 302 crashed shortly after taking off last March, near the capital of Ethiopia, Addis Ababa. Benny Agosto, Jr. currently represents the families of three passengers that perished in the crash.

Families of Passengers Sue Boeing

On March 8, 2014 Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 left from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing carrying 239 passengers. It disappeared and is believed to be lost in the South Indian Ocean. The official search for the plane or its wreckage was suspended on January 17, 2017, by the Australia Air Safety Investigative Board.

On August 30, 2016, Kenneth Glazer filed a wrongful death lawsuit in state court subsequent to his parents' fatal airplane crash on their trip from New York to their vacation home in Naples, Florida. After take off from the Greater Rochester Airport, Larry and Jane Glazer-prominent real estate developers and philanthropists-faced complications in the air, as the plane's cabin pressurization system failed mid-flight. The plane ultimately went down in the Caribbean Sea, Near Jamaica, resulting in the death of the couple.

Three Dead in Airplane Crash Near Hobby Airport

Three people were tragically killed after their airplane crashed into a car Thursday afternoon. The crash happened just after 1:00 p.m. in the 6800 block of Telephone Road, approximately three blocks north of William P. Hobby International Airport. The Cirrus single-engine SR-20 crashed in the parking lot of an Ace Hardware store crushing an employee's car. According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the aircraft was attempting to land at Hobby Airport. The plane was registered by Safe Aviation LLC in Moore, Oklahoma. The National Transportation Safety Board is in charge of the crash investigation.
