A Galveston couple mourns the death of their 22-year-old son recently killed in an automobile accident caused by a drunk driver. The couple has sued two local establishments, alleging the drunk driver became intoxicated after having been served alcoholic beverages for over 6 hours at the establishments.

On the evening of December 16, 2018, 19-year-old Erick Hernandez left a facility named Frontera Events Venue on Houston Boulevard in his Ford F-150 shortly before 11:00 p.m. Just minutes later, he swerved across three lanes of traffic and crashed head-on into an SUV that Taylor Phillips was driving. The 23-year-old mother was killed. In addition, her 1-year-old son and 48-year-old mother were injured.
Two minutes after leaving a bar that served him over a dozen drinks, an intoxicated 19-year-old driving a pickup truck veered into oncoming traffic colliding with an SUV. The driver of the SUV was killed. The driver's mother and 1-year-old child were injured.
The driver of a white pickup truck that caused a fatal crash involving six vehicles is under arrest. The wreck occurred on Friday night at about 10:30 p.m. News accounts report that Steven Taylor was driving the pickup on Liberty Road at a "high rate of speed" when he smashed into a Lincoln that was stopped for a red light at Bringhurst Street. That initial collision knocked the Lincoln into the path of an oncoming truck. Other motorists at the intersection then were involved in the wreck.
A police officer for the City of Houston has been charged with driving while intoxicated with her young daughter in the car at the time. Cassandra Crosby, who is 36 years old, joined the Houston Police Department in 2008. Crosby, now out on bail, appeared in court on Tuesday, September 11, 2018.
Alcohol may have contributed to a crash early Sunday morning that killed a woman. The wreck occurred on July 8, 2018, just before 2:00 o'clock a.m. It happened in the northbound lanes of the West Belt at Bellaire.
On February 28, 2018, Veronica Rivas allegedly rear-ended a car driven by Shayla Joseph. Ms. Joseph's 9-month-old daughter was also in the car, and both she and her daughter were killed. Ms. Rivas was said to have been traveling at a high speed when the crash occurred on the southbound service road of the Gulf Freeway near El Dorado.
On the night of April 21, 2018, three teenagers on their way to see a movie were injured in an accident in Bryan, Texas. Two of the teenagers were pushing their stalled vehicle while the third one was steering it. A pickup was traveling in the same lane and struck the stalled vehicle and the two teenagers that were pushing it. The driver of the pickup was charged with two counts of intoxication assault.
Early on Wednesday, April 11, 2018, Shayla Joseph and her 9-month-old daughter were headed southbound on the feeder road of the Gulf Freeway near Clear Lake at El Dorado. Suddenly, an SUV traveling at a high speed slammed into the back of the compact car in which they were riding, killing both.
