Wrongful Death Lawsuits Filed - Kobe Bryant Helicopter Crash

Two of the families whose relatives were killed in the Kobe Bryant helicopter crash in January of this year have filed wrongful death lawsuits against the company that owned and operated the helicopter, Island Express. The lawsuit alleges that Island Express was "negligent and careless, in regard to owning, leasing, managing, maintaining, controlling, entrusting, chartering, and operating" the helicopter in question and that Island Express' negligence caused the death of all those aboard the aircraft. Further, the lawsuit seeks wrongful death damages for funeral and burial expenses and "all other damages by law."

Helicopter Crash Proves Fatal for Two Houstonians

On January 18, 2018, a helicopter crash in New Mexico claimed the lives of two Houstonians. Investor Charles Burnett III and former Pasadena Police Chief, Paul Cobb, were among the dead. Federal Aviation Administration officials said the private UH-1 Huey helicopter crashed at about 6:00 pm in a mountainous and remote area about 15 miles east of Raton Municipal Airport. The cause of the crash is under investigation.

It concluded that a billionaire's 5-year-old daughter likely caused a helicopter to crash, killing the girl, her three family members and the pilot.

Abraham Watkins Investigating Helicopter Crash in Kendall County

Authorities in Kendall County have confirmed two men and a woman are dead after their helicopter crashed into a heavily wooded area last week in the Texas Hill Country. According to the Federal Aviation Administration, FAA, a Robinson R44 went down near RR 1888 and E. FM 1376, about 15 miles West of Fredericksburg.

Fatal Crash Causes the NTSB to Suggest Changes to Helicopter Design & Maintenance

As noted by the New York Times and Associated Press, on November 24, 2010 the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) recommended a redesign and modification of some portions of the Sikorsky S-76C helicopter, as a result of a January 4, 2009 helicopter crash which resulted in numerous fatalities.

Settlement Reached in 2009 Helicopter Crash

Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. reached a settlement with the widow of co-pilot Vyarl Martin last week for a confidential amount. The helicopter crash occurred near Morgan City, Louisiana in 2009 and killed eight people, including the pilot and co-pilot, and catastrophically injured the lone survivor.
