Father of Fatal San Marcos Apartment Fire Victim Sues Property Management

The father of one of the five people killed in a San Marcos apartment fire on July 20 is now seeking legal action against property owners and management of the Iconic Village apartment complex.

Lawsuits Filed in Connection with Silver Springs Apartment Explosion

On August 10, 2016, in Silver Springs, Maryland, an apartment fire and explosion resulted in the deaths of seven people. The fire and explosion also injured more than thirty people and displaced more than eighty families. Officials reported that the natural gas explosion occurred in the meter room of the Flower Branch apartment complex. After the explosion, there was a natural gas-fed fire that consumed the apartments above and adjacent to the source of the fire.

Fire Investigated in Local High Rise

Friday afternoon, the Houston Fire Department reported a two-alarm fire at a high-rise building. The structure is located near the intersection of Kirby and the Southwest Freeway. Preliminary information indicated smoke in the lobby of the ninth floor, but the actual fire had not been identified, and no one has yet been evacuated. Arson may be involved.

BREAKING: Five-Alarm Fire Burning Out of Control in Montrose Apartment Complex

There is no word yet on injuries, but one construction worker was rescued from the third floor and potentially another worker was sighted on the roof. It is clear that the complex will be a total loss.

Texas City Fire Leads to Wrongful Death Lawsuit

Texas City senior living apartment complex, Colonial Park Apartments, suffered a fatal fire on April 7, 2010. In that blaze, Melody Fitzgerald Rivera, 52, lost her life after the fire erupted in her room. The fire spread through the complex while Rivera was asleep in her room. Firefighters were onsite by 1:30 a.m. and able to stop the spread of the fire. However, Rivera, a Colonial Park resident, suffered third-degree burns to over sixty five percent (65%) of her body. Rivera was admitted to The University of Texas Medical Branch's (UTMB's) burn unit and underwent several skin grafting procedures prior to passing from sepsis.
