(Houston, TX) Houston attorneys, Mo Aziz of Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Agosto, Aziz & Stogner and Bilaal Badat of The Law Office of Bilaal Badat, PLLC, have filed a wrongful death lawsuit against David Matthew Geissen, Stephen Webster, and Angleton Roadhouse Inc. on behalf of Monica Mendez and her slain family.

On the night of November 28, 2020, David Geissen made the poor decision to drive while heavily intoxicated. After having been served the “strongest drinks” at Roadhouse Bar, Mr. Geissen drove his roommate’s large Ford F250 on a highway while Ms. Mendez’ husband, Justin Pena, innocently drove his vehicle with their two minor children (2, 4) onboard. At approximately 11:54 p.m., Mr. Geissen tragically collided with Mr. Pena’s vehicle at an intersection in Brazoria County. Unfortunately, Justin Pena and his children did not survive the horrific accident.

Monica Mendez released a statement on her family’s behalf: “David Matthew Geissen has taken my whole family away from me: the love of my life, Justin Wayne Pena; my four-year old, Cameron; and my two-year old, Camila. He has forever changed my life. My Cameron and Camila were the most beautiful gifts from God, and they were stripped away from me because David Geissen decided to drink and drive. No mother should have to experience the pain that I have had to endure. I want justice for Justin, Cameron and Camila.”

Commenting on the lawsuit, Bilaal Badat stated: “As the world suffers from a global pandemic, innocent Texas drivers continue to fall prey to a long-lasting epidemic-drunk driving. Countless lives have been lost due to the negligence of drunk drivers and establishments that overserve those individuals to build up their bottom line. When will it stop? Too many broken families, too many tears, and too many painful memories. We will fight for Ms. Mendez in her pursuit for justice, making sure these establishments and the individuals involved are held responsible.”

Attorney Mo Aziz also added, “This incident was an unnecessary tragedy that could easily have been avoided. I mourn with Ms. Mendez and her family. Roadhouse Bar, David Geissen, and Stephen Webster will be held accountable for their selfish and reprehensible conduct.”
