Houston, Texas (Jan. 26, 2022) — Partner Mo Aziz and attorney Karl Long of Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Agosto, Aziz & Stogner along with attorneys Dan Sorey and Geoff Hoover of Sorey & Gilliland, LLP, filed a lawsuit on behalf of the family of Earl Schneider, who was killed on Lake Conroe last summer.  Earl Schneider’s son, Stephen Schneider, sustained serious injuries in the accident and is also a Plaintiff in the lawsuit.

On the night of July 10, 2021, Robert Rice spent the night drinking at Margaritaville Resort’s Bar and GuadalaHARRY’s and then operated a boat with three passengers, including Earl and Stephen Schneider.  Walden Country Club was less than a mile away from Margaritaville Resort and has a peninsula that extends out into Lake Conroe. At one time, the peninsula had lights that would alert boaters to the peninsula’s presence at night. However, the lights fell into disrepair and were not working on the night of the accident.

Operating the boat under the influence of alcohol Rice crashed into the peninsula at a high rate of speed and traveled over 40 feet onto land before coming to rest. The boat’s occupants, including Earl Schneider and his son, Stephen, were ejected from the boat during the crash. Earl Schneider was later found dead at the scene after one of the other passengers managed to call 911 on their Apple watch. Stephen Schneider was transported to HCA Houston Healthcare Conroe for multiple severe injuries, including head trauma with broken bones in his face, broken ribs, a punctured lung, shattered pelvis, broken leg, and multiple fractures to his spine.

“People are abusing the right to use Lake Conroe and businesses engaged in the irresponsible serving of alcohol are a big part of the problem, said Mo Aziz

“This type of tragic event could easily have been avoided, and we intend to seek justice against all of those responsible for the needless death of Mr. Schneider,” said Geoff Hoover of Sorey & Gilliland, LLP.
