MEXICAN-AMERICAN BAR ASSOCIATION OF TEXAS FOUNDATION TO HOLD ITS TENTH ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS CEREMONY.

Mexican American Bar Association of Texas FoundationHouston, Texas (August 17, 2015) – As many lawyers know, law school can be not only demanding of one’s time and energy, but also on one’s bank account. Fortunately, the Mexican-American Bar Association of Texas Foundation (MABATx Foundation) will host its Tenth Annual Scholarship Dinner benefitting Hispanic law students. The Dinner will be held Thursday, August 20, 2015 at the DoubleTree Hotel located in downtown Houston. The scholarships are awarded to outstanding law students who best exemplify leadership, commitment, justice and equality within the Hispanic community and beyond. “It is important that we encourage a new generation of lawyers to not only be great lawyers but to also give back to the legal community,” said attorney Benny Agosto, Jr., founder of MABATx Foundation, and partner at Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Agosto, Aziz & Stogner in Houston. Scholarships are awarded to law students from each of the three Houston-based law schools. The MABATx Foundation is a non-profit organization founded to encourage justice and leadership within the Hispanic community.

The MABATx Foundation’s Tenth Annual Scholarship Dinner will include a keynote address from Judge Jimmy V. Reyna of the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in D.C. As always, the Dinner will honor pioneers of the community who exemplify the ideals of the foundation. This year the honorees include: Armando Perez (Outstanding Service as a Business Executive), Lisa Falkenbeg (Outstanding Service in the Media), Judge Al Bennett (Outstanding Service as Public Servants), Representative Ana Hernandez (Outstanding Service to the State of Texas), and Judge Debra Ibarra Mayfield as a top Latina attorney “40” and under.

It should be an exciting event for all! We look forward to seeing you there!
