(Houston, Texas) April 4 – Firm partner Randall Sorrels of Abraham, Watkins,Nichols, Sorrels, Agosto & Aziz, located in Houston, Texas, was recently featured in “A Profile in Professionalism” in the January/February 2011 edition of The Houston Lawyer magazine.
In the feature, Sorrels commented on how instrumental lawyers have been throughout history, helping to establish laws and maintain society. Lawyers have continued this role today, by ensuring continued stability when this nation’s laws and beliefs are challenged.
Sorrels continued along this vein, writing, “The United States of America is the greatest country in the world, due in large part to the rule of law. And I believe that the practice of law is the greatest profession in the world. But with this great calling comes great responsibilities.”
Noting that the legal profession requires meeting high standards and fundamental values, Sorrels wrote, “As humans, at times we each fall short of meeting these values. But as we have done in the past, working together to preserve an environment that respects differences of opinions and promotes healthy and spirited debate, even with all of our personal imperfections, we lawyers must continue to fulfill the obligations bestowed upon our profession.”
Sorrels closed by urging his fellow colleagues in the legal field to continue to strive for improvement and “embrace and embody the unique tools of authority and empowerment” that are part of the noble profession of law.
