Mo Aziz Named 2021 “Attorney of the Year” by Texas Lawyer

Mr. Aziz’s list of achievements for this award is highlighted by his work as a lead attorney on the high-profile MGM Resort International mass shooting that took place in 2017. Mr. Aziz represented over 1,000 plaintiffs in the One October Shooting Litigation against MGM Resorts International In Las Vegas, which had a global settlement for over $800 million in 2021. Mr. Aziz also secured a Four-Million-dollar jury verdict in the product liability case Pruitt v Asphalt Zipper in 2020. This trial result was ranked top two verdicts of 2020 in the Products Liability Category (#17 overall) by Verdict Search for the entire Southwest Region. This case was also a National Law Journal Top 100 verdict. The verdict was also believed to be one of the largest, if not the largest, jury verdicts in a civil case in the Waco division of the federal Western District of Texas as stated by the Waco Tribune-Herald. This was Mr. Aziz’s second jury verdict in the last three years to be highly ranked in the Products Liability Category. Lopez v. Polaris Industries Inc. ($6,050,000 verdict) ranked top three verdicts of 2018 in the Products Liability Category for the entire Southwest Region. In addition to the Pruitt trial, Mr. Aziz prepared two trial groups for trial in the Kuraray Plant Explosion case in 2020, with one which settled on the eve of the trial and since then Mr. Aziz has settled all his cases and completed his term as a court appointed Plaintiff Liaison Counsel. Currently, Mr. Aziz is serving as the Court-appointed Plaintiffs’ Liaison Counsel in two multi district litigation cases—the Arkema Inc. Litigation and the Watson Grinding & Manufacturing Explosion Litigation, in which Mr. Aziz also serves on the Executive Steering Committee.
