(Houston, TX) Houston attorneys, Mo Aziz and Angelina Wike of Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Agosto, Aziz & Stogner and Edward Pollard of the Pollard Legal Group, LLC, have filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Lattimore Materials Corporation on behalf of the family of LaTonya Earl who was killed in a multi-vehicle collision on the morning of Friday, February 14, 2020. Dr. LaTonya Earl was a beloved worship leader at The Church at Bethel’s Family, an award-winning gospel artist, and a mother of three.
Around 6:00 a.m. on February 14, 2020, a cement truck, owned by Lattimore Materials Corporation, left a Campbell Concrete plant and began spilling wet cement across Old Humble Road, creating a hazard for oncoming traffic. The crash occurred when 19-year-old Selvin Palacios hit the wet cement while driving, causing him to lose control of his vehicle and cross the median into oncoming traffic. His vehicle collided with Dr. Earl’s vehicle, resulting in the tragic deaths of both drivers. A Temporary Restraining Order has been filed to preserve all vehicles involved in the collision so that a team of investigators can perform the necessary inspections.
On behalf of the family, LaToshia Norwood, PMP, sister of LaTonya Earl, released the following statement:
“We are devastated and in a complete state of shock. Quite honestly, it’s hard to focus or concentrate on anything else. Dr. LaTonya Earl was the core and nucleus of our family. There are no words that can describe the hurt and emptiness we’re feeling. We are totally lost. Mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually-Dr. Earl was our everything. She was a wife, proud mother of three children, the grandmother of one darling baby boy, a licensed and board-certified Christian counselor, national awarding winning gospel artist, and an advocate and strong supporter of autism awareness and research. Not only does this loss have a deep impact on our family, but also for the Church at Bethel’s Family and the gospel community as a whole. As we prepare to lay her to rest, we find comfort in knowing she loved the Lord. Please continue to pray for both our family and the family of the young man who also perished last Friday in this tragedy.”
Attorney Mo Aziz stated, “Presently our focus is on preservation and collection of evidence and determining the root cause of the hazardous condition created by this spill which resulted in the death of our client.”
