Attorney Benny Agosto Jr., a partner in the Houston personal injury law firm of Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Agosto, Aziz & Stogner, has been recognized on the 2014 Texas Super Lawyers list. He has appeared consecutively for 10 years on the Texas Super Lawyers list, which is published annually in Texas Monthly magazine. Only five percent of practicing lawyers in Texas appear on the list each year.

Mr. Agosto, whose personal injury practice focuses on workplace accidents, catastrophic injuries, and wrongful death, is Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He is admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Southern and Western Districts of Texas and the U.S. District Court for the district of Puerto Rico. He is the author of numerous articles in the Houston Lawyer, the Houston Bar Journal, and the Texas Bar Journal. He is a frequent speaker not only at Continuing Legal Education seminars and legal organization meetings, but also at local high schools, colleges, and law schools. He lectures on civil litigation around the country.

Outside of practicing law, he is dedicated to addressing the needs of the Hispanic community, particularly providing opportunities to students who want to pursue a career in the legal field. He has served as president of the both the Mexican-American Bar Association of Texas and the Hispanic National Bar Association. He is the founder of the Mexican-American Bar Association of Texas (MABATx) Foundation, an organization dedicated to raising money for scholarships awarded to Hispanic law students. He is a co-founder and current president of the Hispanic National Bar Association’s Legal Education Fund, which gives 100 percent of funds raised to minority scholarships.

In addition to his contributions to the Hispanic community, Mr. Agosto actively serves on local and national organizations. He serves locally in several positions at the Houston Bar Association, specifically as first vice-president, and co-chair of the Law and the Media Committee. He is also involved at the state and national level as a member of the Racial and Ethnic Diversity Commission of the American Bar Association, a member of the National Conference of Bar Presidents Program Committee, chair of the Hispanic Issues Section of the State Bar of Texas, and chair of the Hispanic National Bar Association’s Task Force on Unaccompanied Minors Humanitarian Crisis.

His involvement in the legal profession has earned him honors from a number of organizations, including the Litigation Counsel of America, the State Bar of Texas, the Houston Bar Association, and Hispanics in Philanthropy. He has also been recognized in a variety of publications, such as Houstonia Magazine’s Top Lawyers of 2013 list, H Texas magazine’s Houston’s Top Lawyers listing in 2013, Latino Leaders Magazine’s 101 Most Influential Leaders list, and The Best Lawyers in America© in the Personal Injury Litigation – Plaintiffs section since 2012.
