(Houston, Texas) August 20 – Attorney Benny Agosto, Jr., a partner at Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Agosto, Aziz & Stogner in Houston, Texas, has been named one of the 101 Most Influential Leaders by the July-August 2012 edition of Latino Leaders Magazine.

For more than a decade, Latino Leaders Magazine has featured the top Latinos in the United States, including politicians, sports stars, business owners and other relevant and successful leaders. This is the second year in a row that Mr. Agosto has been recognized by the magazine for his leadership among the Hispanic community.

“I am extremely humbled and grateful to be recognized by such a prestigious publication,” said Mr. Agosto, who has been serving as president of the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA) since September of 2011. He is the first Texas attorney to hold this leadership position and has been involved in the HBNA for many years.

Benny is the 38th president of the organization since its founding in 1972. As head of the HNBA, he works along with other members to promote the retention and recruitment of Hispanic law students, hold workshops and conferences, testify at governmental hearings, and educate the Hispanic community about the American legal system.

In addition to leading the organization this past year, Benny also co-founded the HNBA’s Legal Education Fund, a 501(c)(3) organization that provides scholarships to minority law students. His involvement in this work is testimony to the influence of his immigrant parents, who left school after sixth grade and always emphasized the importance of education.

An attorney since 1995, Benny is a former Division I soccer player and high school and college teacher who believes that one should never stop learning. Although he loved teaching, he wanted more; this brought him to the South Texas College of Law Houston. He is now Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, an achievement that reflects his emphasis on lifelong study.

With the other partners of Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Agosto, Aziz & Stogner, Benny advocates for the rights of individuals catastrophically injured in car and truck accidents, workplace injuries, defective product injuries, and other personal injury accidents.
