Attorney Agosto Honored by ADLHOUSTON, TEXAS – The law firm of Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Agosto, Aziz & Stogner is pleased to announce that Firm Partner Benny Agosto, Jr. has received the State Bar of Texas Presidents’ Award, one of the most prestigious awards recognized by the State Bar. The annual Award recognizes exceptional service to the public and to the legal profession, and was presented to Mr. Agosto at the General Session luncheon on June 19 during the State Bar Annual Meeting in San Antonio. This marks Mr. Agosto’s second President’s Award to receive in one year; he was honored with the Houston Bar Association (HBA) President’s Award at the HBA Annual Dinner Meeting on May 21.

Mr. Agosto is deeply committed to serving the community, both through his positions in professional organizations and through his support of young Hispanic students and lawyers. He serves locally as the Second Vice-President of the Houston Bar Association, Co-Chair of the HBA Law and the Media Committee, and as Chair of the Hispanic Issues Section of the State Bar of Texas. He is also a past President of the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA), a Co-Founder of the HNBA’s Legal Education Fund, a 501(c) 3 organization dedicating 100 percent of its proceeds to support minority scholarships, and is the Founder and President of the Mexican American Bar Association of Texas (MABATx) Foundation, created to benefit Houston-area Hispanic law students through scholarships.

His involvement in the legal profession and community has earned him honors locally and nationally. Mr. Agosto’s contributions have been recognized by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) with the ADL Civil Rights Medal, the Hispanic Issues Section of the State Bar of Texas with the Peter Torres, Jr. Community Service Award and the Outstanding Service and Leadership Award, and the Litigation Counsel of America with the Peter Perlman Service Award. He has also been named the Hispanic Male Executive of the Year by the Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Trailblazer Outside Counsel of the Year by the Texas Minority Counsel Program.
