(Houston, TX) – Texas attorney Benny Agosto Jr. has been selected as the 2014 Texas Minority Counsel Program (TMCP) Trailblazer Outside Counsel of the Year. Mr. Agosto was honored at the TMCP Keynote Awards Luncheon in front of an audience of over 500 prominent Texas attorneys.
The State Bar of Texas’ selection of Mr. Agosto is in recognition of his extraordinary support and advocacy for the advancement of minorities in the legal profession. The selection committee noted Mr. Agosto’s efforts in promoting diversity in the Texas Bar, his involvement in bar and community activities, and his sustained participation in the TMCP.
Mr. Agosto is a partner at the Houston law firm of Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Agosto, Aziz & Stogner. In addition to sustaining a robust legal practice, Mr. Agosto is well-known as a former president of the Hispanic National Bar Association and for founding the Mexican-American Bar Association of Texas Foundation. The foundation has raised more than $150,000 in scholarships for Hispanic law students in Texas.
The TMCP award is one of many recognitions Mr. Agosto has received for his leadership in the legal community. Earlier this year, he was honored by Hispanics in Philanthropy magazine for his dedication to making a difference in Texas’ Latino communities.
