(Houston, TX) – The law firm of Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Agosto, Aziz & Stogner is proud to announce that Firm Partner Benny Agosto, Jr. has received the Distinguished Alumnus Award from Houston Baptist University. The award is given to individuals who have made distinctive contributions to their professions and exemplify the standards on which Houston Baptist University was founded. Mr. Agosto was honored with this Award on Saturday, September 24 at the Spirit of HBU Alumni Awards & Walk of Honor Induction Dinner.
HBU also inducted Mr. Agosto to the HBU Athletic Hall of Honor for his accomplishments at the University. As a student, member of the NCAA Division 1 Men’s Soccer Program, and later head coach of the soccer team, Mr. Agosto has exemplified the spirit and culture of HBU. His continued dedication to his HBU family comes through his ongoing support of the soccer program and the students at the university. The HBU Alumni Board of Directors acknowledged Mr. Agosto’s lasting bond with HBU and his love and appreciation for his alma mater.
Over the course of Mr. Agosto’s legal career, he has represented hundreds of individuals who have been seriously injured. He also serves the community though his positions in professional organizations, including roles that support young Hispanic students aspiring to be attorneys. Mr. Agosto is the Founder and President of the Mexican American Bar Association of Texas (MABATx) Foundation, which has raised over $275,000 for scholarships extended to Hispanic law students since the Foundation was established. Mr. Agosto is a former President of the Hispanic National Bar Association and a Co-Founder of the HNBA’s Legal Education Fund. The LEF provides scholarship and financial awards, presenting numerous opportunities for students enrolled in accredited law schools.
Mr. Agosto’s capacity for hard work and commitment to helping others came from his early years, when his parents impressed upon him the need to get a good education and use it wisely. He took that message to heart and kept his focus on getting through school so he could take what he learned and benefit others.
