(Houston) – Randy Sorrels, partner at the Houston law firm of Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Agosto, Aziz & Stogner, is the recipient of the Outstanding Legal Article Award from the Houston Bar Foundation (HBF). The award winning article, which was co-authored with Eric Gerard, is titled “Joint Venturing the Case: A Relationship of Convenience.” It was published in the July/August 2015 edition of The Houston Lawyer.
The Houston Bar Foundation, the charitable arm of the Houston Bar Association, extends the Outstanding Legal Article Award to one attorney each year. The HBF award recipient is selected by the deans of the three Houston law schools-STCL Houston, University of Houston Law Center, and Thurgood Marshall School of Law. Mr. Sorrels was presented with the award at the foundation’s annual luncheon on February 21, 2017.
Mr. Sorrels has been practicing at Abraham Watkins since 1990. He is board certified in both personal injury and civil trial law and handles cases involving serious personal injury, medical malpractice, catastrophic events, wrongful death, and business disputes. Throughout his legal career, Mr. Sorrels’ success inside and outside the courtroom has been recognized by numerous legal publications and organizations. He is consistently named to the Top 100: Texas Super Lawyers, Top 100: Houston Super Lawyers, and Texas Super Lawyers lists. For two years he has been named the Best Lawyers® Medical Malpractice Law – Plaintiffs “Lawyer of the Year” in Houston. He has also been honored with the State Bar of Texas’ President’s Award, the Houston Bar Association President’s Award, and the Woodrow B. Seals Outstanding Young Lawyer of Houston Award. Mr. Sorrels is a past president of the Houston Bar Association.
