He received the Award at the Annual Humanitarian Awards Luncheon on June 15th, 2017, in recognition of his support and compassionate commitment to the community.
The Latino Learning Center serves the community through adult education and services for the elderly and disabled. Through the Humanitarian Award, the Latino Learning Center honors individuals in the arts, cultural, and entertainment industries for their work in promoting social, philanthropic, and humanitarian work. The award recognizes leaders in the Houston community for their philanthropic work and community involvement, including initiatives to provide relief for those affected by natural disasters and disease, and to provide relief for the less fortunate population.
Mr. Agosto has been recognized for many contributions to the legal community. He is the Founder and President of the Mexican American Bar Association of Texas Foundation and is the former President of the Hispanic National Bar Association. He has received the President’s Award from both the State Bar of Texas and Houston Bar Association, the Civil Rights Medal from the Anti-Defamation League, the Peter Torres, Jr. Community Service Award from the Hispanic Issues Section of the State Bar of Texas, and the Peter Perlman Service Award from the Litigation Counsel of America. He has also been named one of the 25 Most Influential Hispanic Lawyers by Latino Leaders Magazine, the Trailblazer Outside Counsel of the Year by the Texas Minority Counsel Program and the Hispanic Male Executive of the Year by the Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
