Houston Attorney Benny Agosto, Jr. Recently Attended The White House’s First-Ever Hispanic Business Leaders’ Forum

Firm partner Benny Agosto, Jr., of Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Agosto, Aziz & Stogner, was invited to the White House for a gathering of top Hispanic business leaders focused on economic and business development within the Latino community.

(HOUSTON, TX) Benny Agosto, Jr., a partner at the Houston law firm of Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Agosto, Aziz & Stogner, recently joined top Hispanic business leaders from across the United States at the White House for the first-ever Hispanic Business Leaders Forum. The event was co-hosted by the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce with the intent of fostering economic growth, particularly among the Latino community.

The day-long summit drew members of the Hispanic community from Fortune 500 companies, professional firms and high-growth entrepreneurs into an interactive discussion on improving collaboration between the government and Hispanic business leaders. In opening remarks, Valerie Jarrett, Senior Advisor and Assistant to the President for Public Engagement and Intergovernmental Affairs, noted the important role the Latino community plays in the nation’s economic recovery and future growth “To compete in today’s economy, we must draw from the talents, perspectives, and leadership of every community in our country.”

Presentations were made by Treasury Secretary Jacob L. Lew on the economy, Cecilia Munoz, Assistant to the President and Director of the White House Domestic Policy Council, on the new health care law and Todd Park, U.S. Chief Technology Officer, on open data initiatives. The Summit is the beginning of an ongoing conversation between the White House and Hispanic leaders focused on growing the contribution of the over three million Hispanic businesses in the U.S.

For two consecutive years, Houston attorney Benny Agosto, Jr. has been recognized by Latino Leaders Magazine as one of the 101 Most Influential Leaders in the United States. He recently served a year-long term as President of the Hispanic National Bar Association. Along with two other members of the HNBA, Mr. Agosto co-founded the Association’s Legal Education Fund. The LEF is a non-profit organization devoted to providing scholarships for minority students who pursue a legal education.
